No wet head with Kangol's P2i golf collection

Kangol has fused technology with headwear with its new golf collection.  It uses P2i, a liquid repellent nano-coating technology, which creates an ultra thin polymer layer that changes surface properties and causes liquid to form beads that simply roll off, making  it water repellent without changing the look and feel of the product.  This is like pure wizardry. Whatever next, skincare that makes you look like you have a natural tan.... Wait a minute....

Harrods announces Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Spectacular

Harrods has removed its iconic green canopies to make way for ornate, golden frames showcasing 31 crowns designed exclusively for Harrods by the world’s leading brands in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Drawing on inspiration from Harrods decorations for the Queen’s Coronation in 1953, the Knightsbridge store’s façade is lined with Union Flags and two 50-ft tall regal banners heralding the Queen’s Royal Cypher and St. Edwards Crown.

Harrods employees have also been seen filling the pavement outside the 160-year-old store for a roaring rendition of God Save the Queen and Land of Hope and Glory, whilst waving British flags.  Harrods will occasionally broadcast God Save the Queen from the store’s Brompton Road facade throughout the Jubilee celebrations.

Alongside lots of Jubilee celebrations instore, The Pet Kingdom will be offering special Jubilee treatments for patriotic pooches. Dogs will depart with a Union Jack bow and Union Jack cupcake.  Woof woof indeed!

Indulge in Gatsby Glamour by Derek Rose

This year, Leonardo DiCaprio takes on the lead role of The Great Gatsby, with Carey Mulligan as his French Fancy.  The film looks incredible, and features some of the most beautiful collection of clothes and accessories we have seen for a long time.
Baz Luhrmann’s remake of the classic film evokes thoughts of a by-gone era but it is the clothing which is sweeping the fashion world with a new wave of nostalgia. The ‘Roaring Twenties’ were all about excess and daring. ‘Gatsby’ fashion mixes masculine touches with feminine basics to add glamour and Derek Rose’s (Twitter - @derek_rose) alluring and timeless collections perfectly conjure this spirit of elegance and sophistication.
Their signature striped silk pyjamas feature vibrant, candy colours of vivid pinks, lime greens and turquoise. With their dressing gowns echoing 20’s romance with lavish silks in rich tones of purple, silver, gold and black. One thing is for certain, we have to own some of this collection, light up a pipe and sit in the evening sun sipping on a single malt.

Eye popping cuff-links for the Diamond Jubilee from Deakin & Francis

British based Jewellery manufacturers Deakin & Francis (Twitter - @cufflinks1786) find an alternative way to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.  With this historic milestone they have created a limited edition design, of which only 12 pairs of cufflinks will be made to mark 2012, the year of the Jubilee.

The cufflinks are made from 18ct white gold and plenty of diamonds. However, they wouldn’t be Deakin & Francis cufflinks without their trademark twist. The cufflinks are based on the original Deakin & Francis skull design cufflinks and with opening jaws and popping diamond eyes (0.16cts), they are truly unique. Sporting a purple velvet and diamond-encrusted crown (a further 0.24cts) even Prince Philip would be proud to own a pair.

Each pair will be marked with the official Diamond Jubilee hallmark, which shows Queen Elizabeth in a diamond surround All this for a reasonable £8,575.00, and available direct from Deakin & Francis website or Harrods.

Also available from the Deakin & Francis limited edition Diamond Jubilee range are silver skull & crown cufflinks and silver crown cufflinks set with rubies & sapphires.

We make the cake. So give me a slice please!

Fruit basket
I think about you all the time

I love the cake!  Yes, I said it, I love the cake but so do you, just admit it!  Well if you do, I have found the perfect tote bag company for you.  We Make The Cake is a German born company that has been creating bags for over 2 years now.  Their amusing copy on the front of the bag, makes these pieces a must have for any budding shopper.

So which is your favorite?  Mine has got to be the 'There was a time when they were just fruit' bag.  Cheeky, clever, and actually very true.

Ruby Kobo likes a skull

Ruby Kobo is an accessory brand by design duo Yuvi Alpert and Danna Kobo.  It pays homage to ancient mysticism, and a number of their designs as per the cheeky skull design seen above. The designers are constantly sourcing new materials and innovations in design in order to keep the collection evolving, including  ethically sourced deer antler.

Ruby Kobo can count many a celebrity among its fans with Rihanna, Kanye West, and Russell Brand seen wearing items lately.  It can also include myself at Maketh-The-Man now!  Check out their Facebook page for pictures of all their fans, and press cuttings.

Kangol hat's are Made in England

I remember having a Kangol cap when I was a lot younger than I am now.  Thankfully, the brand is still going strong and it's Made in England collection returns this season in three classic styles - flat cap, baker boy and bucket.

The fabric used for the entire range is crafted in Yorkshire and the various British checks are named after towns in the surrounding area – Burton, Copley and Kendray.  Now I can't wait to see what their Made in Scotland collection looks like, especially if it's named after Barrhead, Erskine and Cambuslang.

A Tanner for a belt? No, it's a little more than that.

We all need a good belt(s) in our life.  There are some who would say you always have to match your shoes to your belt i.e. brown shoes, brown belt, but conforming is something we rarely do at Maketh-The-Man.

However, such occasions are called for, so whilst looking for a new belt to hold up my 'brakes', I was reminded of Herring Shoes lovely hand-crafted collection. Within the range are two-tone leather/ canvas pieces that compliment their two-tone styles from the Premier Collection such as the Henley and Fencote, mock croc styles to compliment the Jagger and Dylan, and plainer classic chestnut leather styles, which are more versatile.

The pièce de résistance of the collection is the Tanner Bates Oak Bark leather belt. Oak bark is the finest natural material used to tan natural cowhide and Tanner Bates are the experts in leatherworking craftsmanship. Their belts are hand made in a workshop in Devon, and the solid brass belt buckles are cast in sand and hand polished.

So if you are in need of a classic belt, you now know where to go.
