Love for Kirk Originals

You know I own a pair but I just love the concept behind Kirk Originals! The design, the colour and the thought behind every piece is just so fashion forward thinking.  They hosted a party tonight with Boo Hewerdine and Brooks Williams playing some classics, whilst we tried on all the frames.

Tom Davies is a Wizard

There are many famous Tom's in the world.  Tom Jones, Tom & Jerry, and now Tom Davies (Twitter - @tdtomdavies).  Mr Davies is the only frame designer worldwide who offers a bespoke frame made to measure service.

Born out of his desire to revolutionise spectacle wearing, Tom produces frames that are truly bespoke, using an individuals measurements, face shape, colouring and personality to produce one off, luxury, frames for his couture clients.

He also offers a ready to wear collection, which now include Transitional lenses.  So the eye-wear geeks out there would want to know that:

'Using the most technically advanced, patented photochromic dyes, imbibing processes and trans-bonding techniques, Transitions and Tom Davies are offering a new perspective on spectacle wearing'

I'm not so sure what this means either, but basically the lenses change colour if you are in bright sunlight, and then change back again if you are not.  Wizardry now comes in a lens!

Happy 20th Birthday Kirk Originals

My favorite eye-wear company, Kirk Originals, this year celebrate 20 years in the industry. From its early 1992 origins when Snap were singing 'Rhythm is a Dancer', Jason and Karen Kirk launched the brand from a basement flat in London. Inspired by the discovery of a collection of frames designed by Kirk Brothers (Sidney and Percy Kirk) in his father’s practice, Jason began selling these to the most fashionable London boutiques and, twenty years later, Kirk Originals have their own flagship store in London and sell in more than forty countries.

In celebration of this milestone Kirk Originals are set to launch two new styles to their already successful Beam and Sunbeam Collections. The new shapes are named Marius and Electra and will come in two new colourways – Sapphire and Ruby.

The Beam and Sunbeam collections are made entirely from acrylic and handmade in France from start to finish. An acrylic frame means the glasses can benefit from much brighter colourways and are much more hardwearing yet softer on the skin.  Here's to the next 20 years, and welcoming in your 40's Jason.

The Police love Luke Evans

There is a new officer in town in the shape of Luke Evans.  This week he was in town to launch the POLICE 2012 eyewear collection at DSTRKT. The new collection focuses on their iconic blue lenses which they have been famous for since the 1990s.  A number of celebrities were in attendance, but I found my two favorite celebrity fashion friends in the shape of Prince Cassius and Aizak Buyondo.
